There were a lot of 6-8lb+ fish around! And the trout are growing. We are not convinced that the better than average size fish is totally the result of mice, but word has it that the beech trees of Nelson Lakes and the Buller Region are flowering again right now, meaning more seed, more mice, good fishing in 2010-2011. Heavy snowfalls in winters of 2007 and 2008 smashed forest canopy causing Mother Nature to kick-start the reproductive cycle of the native forest.
