Nelson City Fly Fishing

N024L-319 IMG 2561-291
Nelson City is an ideal base to explore the outdoor paradise of the northern South Island.

This port city offers excellent accommodations and amenities for anglers, while non-fishing companions will have a ball with plenty to see and do. The Motueka, Buller, Wairau, and Pelorus river systems are all within striking distance on day trips from Nelson. Exciting helicopter-access fishing opportunities exist in the mountains of Kahurangi National Park, and the eastern mountains of Marlborough.

Our home base is in the town of Richmond, a suburb of Nelson City, and nearby Nelson Airport which is one of the busiest civil airports in New Zealand. Why is Nelson so busy? The answer is simple – we have the best weather with the highest number of sunshine hours per annum in New Zealand.

While most of our anglers come to fly fish local and wilderness rivers for trout, there is excellent year-round saltwater fishing in Tasman Bay, right on our doorstep. Have a look in our saltwater section to check out other fishing options from Nelson City, including saltwater fly fishing. Hey, we can even do a hunt if you have the time, energy and inclination.

NZ$1195 per day for guiding, vehicle transport, streamside lunch & refreshments. Standard day is 8.30am – 6pm, start to finish at your accommodation venue.
