In New Zealand we use two flies - a black one and a brown one!
Rene Vaz of Manic Tackle says: When it comes to tackling wary trout in the heavily fished Nelson area, use need patterns that are subtle but effective. This simple little brown parachute is easy to spot in the surface film as it runs through riffles and has a clean profile of a classic mayfly dun. In overcast conditions or early morning when the water's surface goes silver you won't lose sight of this puppy!
Zane Mirfin says: These are the flies we use for our own commercial guiding. They are original ZM designs tied on top quality NZ-style hooks to catch the big fish. These Brown dry flies are a particularly useful during Coloburiscus Mayfly hatches but work great anytime, even as a searching pattern.
